Novominsker Rebbe, Rabbi Yaakov Perlow, President of Agudath Israel of America, at his home in Boro Park, makes a special donation to Masbia during the High Holidays before Yom Kippur. He told Executive Director Alexander Rapaport that he believes it is “every person in the neighborhood should feel obligated to give at least $18 to Masbia” (loosely translated from Yiddish). According to Halakha, every person is obligated to support their local soup kitchen.
